Letter from Pastor John Welton

Dear Members and Friends,

This Sunday, we will finish the story of Jesus in Nazareth. We will see the synagogue’s response to the hometown prophet. Unfortunately, we will discover that not everyone cared for the message that Jesus shares. Jesus will encounter resistance in his ministry. Not everyone is ready, willing, or able to accept the news of the Kingdom of God. Jesus later warns his disciples they will encounter resistance as well.

Thankfully we do not encounter as strong a reaction as Jesus did in his hometown. We are also grateful that Jesus was not afraid of the shadow of death and continued his ministry in the Galilee. May we have faith that in our life of discipleship that we can keep calm and carry on. We will celebrate communion this Sunday trusting it will unite us in purpose and faith to reach out to those forgotten or in need of hope.  Have a wonderful start to the shortest month of the year.

Peace

Pastor John
