Letter from Pastor John Welton

Dear Friends,

This week Joseph will come face to face with his brothers. It is a dramatic moment in the story. It is also a surprise for Joseph since he has changed so much that they will not recognize him. Joseph will play a trick on his brothers. He hides the money they spent to buy food, deep in their travel bags. It will be a mystery and welcome blessing for his father Jacob and his younger brother. It is also very appropriate for this season of tricks and treats.

We will also see Joseph live into his calling. He is secure as the second in command to Pharaoh. He is eager to reunite with his elderly father, living up to his calling as a son. We will also see him try to fulfill the dreams that he has been given.  But to do this he must have a full reunion with all his family.

Vocation is important in every facet of life! Calling or vocation is more than a simple job. It becomes part of our being and sometimes a title. The position of father, mother, sister, brother, are for life. We also take on titles or positions because we feel or have a desire internally to be. We become mentors, teachers, and leaders from a desire to share with others.

This week in our transitional talk ten minutes after worship we will get vocal about vocation. We will discuss our churches desire for mission and where our desire meets the world’s need. I hope you can join us this Sunday.

Peace,

John
